These aren’t your grandma’s florals…

(but we do love a coastal grandma moment)

Ladylike Story

Hey there! My name is Cailyn, the artist behind Ladylike. I’ve always been kind of artsy for as long as I can remember, always coloring or writing my own stories with illustrations (the “Big Box” of Crayola crayons was life changing). I’ve been a NICU nurse for the past 11 years, time flies, yikes! My love for art popped back up during the dark ages of COVID when I was stuck in my house with nothing to do but hang out with my cats Olive & Ophelia, no offense ladies. My bestie told me about the watercolor queen, Jenna Rainey, and I watched hours of her tutorials on Youtube. I went online and bought a few basic supplies: paints, brushes, and paper. I caught on pretty quickly and I was hooked! I started to paint some special pieces for friends and family, but never thought much of it.

In 2023, I left my hometown of Pittsburgh, PA and began the travel nurse life. It led me to Charleston, SC and I pretty quickly realized I never wanted to leave (sorry, mom!). While exploring this charming city, I found that it was full of creative people and inspiration was everywhere! From the ocean coastline to the historic downtown charm of Charleston, I was in love. Strolling around the city and admiring the old homes surrounded by flowers became my favorite thing to do. I couldn’t stop painting: flowers, flowers, and more flowers! I began to sell my art at local markets around town and Ladylike was born!

I became a vendor at the Charleston City Market and would pack up all of my original paintings and tote them to the city in my little wagon. I’d set up my table, watch the horse led carriages trot down the street, and paint all night while locals and tourists came up to my table to chat. My most asked question was “ Do you paint custom wedding bouquets?” I never had but I figured, why not? So I started painting pieces for commissions and that led to the “Timeless” collection.

Long story short,

I never thought watching watercolor videos on YouTube would lead me to where I am today, but I am so grateful it did! My love language is watercolor florals and cutesy illustrations. So take a look around and I hope you love it as much as I do!

Xo,

Ladylike
